Transporting Flower Arrangements
- Make sure your exhibit tags are filled in so you won't be rushed at the last minute.
- Round up all your arrangements and check them over for damage and wilting.
- If they show signs of wilting, they may simply need a spritz with water or a top-up for the container.
- If they don't perk up, you may have to recut the stem or replace the plant material that is too far gone. This is why you conditioned some extra flowers!
- Right before you leave, remove most of the water from your arrangement to prevent it from spilling all over you or the car.
- Gently pack your arrangement into a nest of crumpled newspaper in a box that is a bit wider than your arrangement. This will prevent it from tipping over on the way to the show.
- Once your entries are signed in, tagged, and set up, give them one last spritz or top up the container and then leave them alone.
- Remember: there are lots of ways to present flowers, and yours is just how you wanted it to be.
- Talk to the other entrants and exchange growing and arranging tips.
- This is a great chance to learn how to improve your garden with people who share your enthusiasm for plants and vegetables.
